HIGHGROVE LUNCH

Since H.R.H. The Prince of Wales opened his Gloucestershire home, Highgrove, to the public in 2008, there have been visitors from far and wide flocking to see the beautiful gardens, and as Tetbury is just 5 minutes away, it is the perfect stop-off before or after your visit, with wonderful boutiques and independent stores, it’s ideal for browsing or serious shopaholics!

Located right in the centre of the shopping, and opposite the Highgrove store, we can provide lunch for your group to suit your timings and budget. Often the lunch needs to be served quickly and efficiently and we are experienced in meeting these requirements to ensure a really memorable day. We suggest the express 2 course menu, as this can be pre-ordered and planned in advance, but if prefer to order from the normal menu on the day, we can still manage a large group.

DISCOVER WESTONBIRT ARBORETUM AND HERITAGE GARDENS

Run by the Forestry Commission, Westonbirt Arboretum is an internationally renowned tree collection, heritage landscape and fantastic location for playing, walking, relaxing and learning about nature. It attracts over 350,000 visits per year and is known worldwide for its spectacular Autumn colour and the Spring rhododendron, azalea and magnolia displays. There are events throughout the year, including Forest Live Summer Concerts and the Enchanted Christmas Illuminated Trail, a beautiful and mysterious walk amongst the trees after nightfall.

Once you’ve explored the Arboretum you may be tempted to cross the road to the grounds of Westonbirt School, now known as Westonbirt Heritage Gardens which have been hailed as “the most historically significant private gardens in Gloucestershire”, originally the home of  Robert Holford who also founded the arboretum.

Among their 23 acres are extensive terraced pleasure gardens, Italianate walled gardens, fountains and pools, statuary and stonework, a grotto, a grass amphitheatre and woodland walks by a lake. There are also many fine specimen trees, including six “champion” trees, i.e. the largest or oldest of their kind in the UK. Until recently, these gardens could be enjoyed only by the staff and pupils of the school, but they are now open to the public during certain holiday periods.
